Can anyone assist me[A] Long story short a year & 1/2 ago I gave my lap to a Tech service to uninstall my modified OS partitioned with Vista/XP Pro and reinstall XP Pro only before MS ended all updates to start with clean hard drive. OK bad Idea I know[:D] lap was spotless and ran flawlessly, everything original except for the motherboard & heat sink both changed under warrenty & onsite, but I did it anyway.
What should have turned out to be a 4-6 hour job became 5 days and nothing worked properly including the monitors resolution OK could been the wrong drivers. After finding another tech and with the assistnce of dells level 2 tech support I got it correctly reinstalled and running BUT here's were it get's questionable.
1. Power adapter was switched from
2. lid cover turned from Midnight Blue to matt Tuxedo, multiple sctach's and cover slightly seperating from lid. Other issues but I'll stick to just the monitor.
Fearing the worse I wa able to get the PPID from Dell and had the machine dismantled and checked the serial #'s. This is were it get's strange. The PPID on the monitor matched[:^)] Dell has NO CLUE how that could be as I sent them a pic of the lid definately Black. Now the plot thickens the systems control panel for the monitor only recognizes it as a Generic PnP with a refresh rate of only 60 when before I could adjust it to 120 or inbetween and ID it shows is different SEC\3255\5&207E0375&0&UID280 with a driver instation date of 2006? I got the lap in June of 2008.
Can anyone make sense of this.
