Inspiron 7737 crash on resume from sleep

I purchased an Inspiron 7737 about 6 weeks ago. Immediately updated to Windows 8.1 so I am not sure if problem exists with Windows 8 but I suspect not because I see many other people reporting a similar problem after updating to 8.1.

System crashes when resuming from sleep about 1 in 5 times.

Crash symptoms vary including application hang, blue screen dump message, and black screen hang that requires hard power off.

Resume from hibernate seems to be ok.

I see many other people reporting the same problem. For example:

I have tried every idea suggested by others and a few of my own including:

  • updated all drivers to those recommended by Dell for Windows 8.1
  • updated nVidia display driver to latest offered by nVidia (after trying version recommended by Dell)
  • updated Intel display driver to latest offered by Intel (after trying version recommended by Dell)
  • updated bios to A07
  • disabled Intel Rapid Start in bios
  • disabled Intel Rapid Connect in bios
  • disabled Windows Fast Start option
  • disabled nVidia display adapter (to use Intel adapter only)
  • disabled Intel display adapter (to use nVidia adapter only)
  • disabled Realtek PCIE CardReader
  • disabled integrated Webcam
  • disabled Bluetooth
  • attempted to install Microsoft hotfix 2866485 (not compatible with this system)

This is a serious problem that Dell should address because sleep is unusable at this time.
