Dell M6400 Precision laptop LED problem

Hello. Ok I will start by saying I made a mistake and did a non prefessional error. My LED screen had a crack in it so I ordered a new one. When it came to me it was without me knowing an LCD screen. With the laptop on still I tryed to plug the LED video cable into the LCD screen which fried the LED video cable. I then ordered another one of those and of course the right LED screen for my laptop. When I installed the new video cable and LED screen I had no luck and the screen does not work. It sort of has a tint when I turn it on but no complete screen. It works when I plug a VGA cable into an external monitor but this is becoming a huge inconvenience. My buddy owns a laptop repair shop but me being financially strapped and his busy schedule I could not have it professionally fixed. He told me to look online and that it may be the LED fues on the motherboard that went bad and he could maybe bridge the fuse to make it work. I am at a loss trying to find what this actually is causing the new LED screen and cable from working. I guess that is why I am here now. Looking to find out what this may be from some expert help. Any ideas on what this may be and where I will find this fix? Also if it is the LED fuse where would this be found?
