A brand new M4800, and when I try to use the Display Port (DP) connector to connect a Dell P2314H and extend my desktop, I can't set display alignment and main display, because it resets to the default by itself. In the same time using a DSUB VGA cable everything is fine.
Situation:
The monitor is working, at the Control Panel > Display > Screen Resolution shows the second monitor. I installed the appropriate drivers for it, and it's there by its own name. However under the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel > Display only the Built In display is shown. I suspect that the problem lies somewhere here. Intel drivers are the latest.
Symptom:
If connected via DP, most of the time I'm unable to position the displays in the Windows Control Panel > Screen Resolution, and I'm not able to set the main display. Most of the time means that interestingly 1 in 10 tries somehow succeeds, and the setup is kept until the computer goes to sleep or I try to setup something again in display properties.
So most of the time when I try the above, everything shows up correctly for about 2 seconds, but then it reverts back to its original setting without any notice. Original setting is that the built in display is the main display and it's on the left.
When the same monitor is connected via DSUB VGA, Intel HD Control Panel recognizes the display and I can set everything with Windows Control Panel. After I set up my display correctly while connected with DSUB, I pull the DSUB and plug the DP connector (to the same monitor), the above happens: 2 seconds and then everything is reset.
Versions:
Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver recently updated to 10.18.10.3412 (2014.01.29.)
AMD FirePro M5100 FireGL V is the latest too: 13.251.0.0 (2013.12.06.)
System BIOS A06
Windows 7 SP1 with all Important updates. Checked recommended updates too, but none are related to DP.
Anybody any idea what might be going on? Thanks in advance.
