I recently updated my laptop from win 8 to win8.1 and downloaded the latest Intel HD 4000 driver version 10.18.10.3316 from the dell website. When I tried to install the driver it says it is not supported for my computer. Later, i went back to the dell website and noticed the Important Information section under the driver download which says "This Intel Graphics Windows 8.1 driver can not be installed on Intel I3/I5/I7-2 series CPU, Intel Pentium CPU and Celeron CPU".
Inside the Installation_Readme.txt file of the driver package it says:
II. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
1. The system must contain one of the following Intel chipsets/processors:
4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Platform
4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor U Series-based Platform
4th Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Y Series-based Platform
3rd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Platform
3rd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor U Series-based Platform
3rd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) Processor Y Series-based Platform
Intel(R) Pentium(R) Processor 2000/3000/G2000/G2100/G3000 Series
Intel(R) Celeron(R) Processor 900/1000/2000/G1000 Series
2. The software should be installed on systems with at
least 1 GB of system memory.
3. There should be sufficient hard disk space in the <TEMP>
directory on the system in order to install this
software.
Now my processor is , I believe, 3rd gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3537U CPU[confirmed it using Intel processor Identification Utility].
I think I fulfill all of the criterias in system requirements. So, why can not I install this update?
