Hello everyone,
I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop with the graphic card Nvidia GeForce 540M 2GB.
Every time i play a game, the screen would either go black in 6-12 seconds (so if im playing im most likely dead), or with some other games it just crashes to desktop. Then this message pops up:
"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered - Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 331.82 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
As you can see this makes it allmost impossible to enjoy any kind of gaming.
Im writing here becouse these last days I have tried fixin it myself but with no luck and really beggin to feel frustrated!
This is what I have tried so far:
1) Clean the dust out of my laptop.
2) Update the driver for my GPU. And downgrade it.
3) In my nvidia control panel go to "Manage 3D settings" and for "Power management mode" select "Prefer maximum performance" instead of "Adaptive"
4) Did Microsoft's "solution" : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946
5) Made a complete removal of the Nvidia card, using DDU - then reinstall.
Im not that good with computers to be honest. Right now im thinkin about reinstalling the whole system but I doubt it would work? Is this "error" really the dead end of my laptop?..
Anyway, I would really be thankful for anykind of ideas or respond. I really need help!
Thanks
