My Studio 1557 is only 30 months old and there are signs the HDD is failing - head clunking and motor buzzies. So I thought I would do all my backups now.
I completed the Win 7 (64bit) Pro system restore/repair disks but realised I had no way to reinstall W7 as Dell relies only on this damned Datasafe... So I started the b/up to DVD -R as advised and was given a dtaa size of 5177mb thus requiring 2x DVD-r. After 2 attempts I got a disk to be accepted and it completed disc #1 but failed to do anything on the insertion of 6 off new, blank discs for the disc #2... I can't keep feeding discs in like this!
This is an abdominal setup! - everyone here is having issues.
I don't have a USB of sufficient size but I do have some space on a 170Gb USB hdd enclosure - could I do a B/up to that? Would I be able to boot off of that seeing as it already contains other data?
Thanks for any feedback
