I have an old (circa 2003) Dell Inspiron 8500. I use it daily for several tasks. It used to run 24x7 but I don't need it on between 22:55 and 07:55 so I have a program that does an automated shutdown each night at 22:55. For the automated startup each morning at 07:55, I use the BIOS option. Everything works fine except for one minor detail. If I leave the laptop opened, it boots to 1280x800 resolution which is the desired setting. However if I close the laptop, it boots to 1024x768 which I would rather not use. I looked in the registry (didn't make any changes) and found many keys that mention XResolution and YResolution in their names and I see several different resolutions including the two mentioned above as well as 800x600 and possibly some others. In another forum (not Dell), someone recommended deleting all keys that mention XResolution or YResolution but I am hesitant to do that without a full understanding of what it will do,
