How to configure three (3) displays on a Dell Latitude Portable with Intel HD 4000 Graphics

This is my first post here, so I apologize if this has already been answered elsewhere. My CEO was recently given a Dell Latitude E6230 with the Intel HD 4000 graphics card, and the dual-port Advanced Port Replicator (APR); the laptop is running Windows 7 Pro x64 with the latest OS patches, and Dell drivers (including the latest Intel HD 4000 display driver) and latest BIOS, etc.. We have been struggling to configure his system to display to the built-in laptop LCD, and two external Dell P2012Ht 20" wide screen LCD monitors. I had originally attempted to use the DVI and VGA cables supplied with the monitor, but could only get the display up on the laptop's built-in LCD  + 1 of the external LCDs, or on both of the external LCDs minus the built-in laptop display. Moving on, I found the following article which describes the simple process for displaying to all three monitors which I tried to no avail:

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=584364

1. Place the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator (APR) where you want to set up your monitors; then connect and plug in its power cable.

2. Connect one end of a DisplayPort cable to the APR and the other end of the cable to a DisplayPort LCD Display.

3. Connect and plug in the LCD displays power cable, turn on the LCD Display and place it where you want

Repeat Steps 2 and 3 for your other DisplayPort LCD display.

4. With your Dell Latitude™ portable system turned off, dock the system on the APR.

5. Turn on the system. Once Windows has started, all 3 screens should display graphics.

6. Right-click the desktop, click Graphics Properties and adjust the resolution and positions of your LCD displays. You can also change the default display to any one of the screens.

Based on this, I ordered a couple of StarTech Display Port cables (6ft DisplayPort to DVI Cable - M/M), and followed the above instructions, but still could only get the display up on two monitors no matter what configuration I tried. When configuring, I used both the Windows Screen Resolution utility via the Control Panel, and the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel. I tried it every which way I could, but when I click apply in the Windows utility, it says that it cannot be saved. Essentially, the third monitor looks to be disabled (grayed out).

I have no idea where to go from here. Has anyone else figured out how to accomplish this?

Thanks - Dan
