Hello all,
I've found that my Vostro 3500 (15.6 WXGA LED display) is, sort of, automatically dimming the display brightness when the on screen image is dark.
It's very easy to reproduce this: I just set the desktop background as solid black, and I can see the brightness progressively dim. When I bring up a window, prevalently white, the brightness increases again.
Is this a sort of "feature" (which I can't find anywhere and so no way to disable it) and did someone else notice it ?
Operating system is Windows 7 PRO x64 with latest drivers from Dell.
Interesting note: it seems that this behaviour is present only when Windows booted and loaded the graphics driver. During the boot procedure, when the screen is 90% black, I didn't notice the dimming. That would lead in my opinion to a software related behaviour.
My next test will be trying with a Linux live, to see if it's really Windows related or it's somehow in the display firmware.
Thanks for any suggestion!
Regards
Giulio
