After running diagnostic, I received the above error code (2000-0142). From reading the posts, it appears my hard drive has failed and needs replacement.
Unfortunately, the laptop is NOT under warranty anymore. Further, when I purchased the lap top brand new, it did not come with an installation disk.
The computer will not start up now, so I cannot back up my data and there is no restore point. I assume I need the install CDs. It is very disconcerting and frustrating that the install CD were not included when it should have been, after all I paid for one. Adding insult, is the fact that DELL hard drives invariably fail more often and quicker than other competing brands. Not to mention the pathetic design of the laptop that requires you to practically take the entire laptop apart just to replace the HDD.
In any case, any advice where I can obtain a copy of Win 7 without shelling over more money would be greatly appreciated.
