Hi, my vostro 1400 screen image disappeared after 7 years of working. image on extrenal lcd is fine
I changed the lcd cable and checked the inverter with a new one. Now I get bright light horizonally at the bottom of the screen and vertical colour lines on the whole screen.
When I checked the 'Devices' ib the Contorl Panel 'System' Nvidea GeForce 8400M GS displays an error,
' windows has stopped this device because it has reported probm (code 43)
'
I have tried to unistall and reinstall the driver to no avail. existing driver is V8..17.11 9562 20/11/2009
While Window reported that the driver is upto date
i aslo tried installing new drivers from NVidea site V350.12, 341.44 V347.88. Installtion failed on all.
Iv read elsewhere(http://www.nvidiadefect.com/) that GeForce 8400 and 8600 overheat and dislodge from substrate when solder melts.
Has anyone seen this problem? First I thought that my LCD screen has packed up, but reading more I feel that my screen might be ok, it is the graphics chip, a motherboard swap may be the answer?
I would appreciate a more qualified advice on it if there is someone with this specific experience please.
