Hello everyone, I need help with an issue I cannot seem to resolve. First off, when using just the laptop alone i get normal frame rates with no drops whatsoever. Now I've had my external monitor connected to the HDMI in the past and it never had fps drops. Recently Whenever i game I get major fps drops randomly. 60fps then down to 30-50 for a second or so then back up. I've done this so far.
Checked the temperatures to see if it's an overheating issue, temps are fine. Uninstalled/re-installed drivers, intel/nvidia including new and old. I've re-installed windows and installed drivers freshly. I've bought a different hdmi cable, tried dvi to hdmi, also just VGA. I've selected high performance nvidia processor as the default GPU. I've tried turning vertical sync off, but even with fps of 90-100 it will always drop to 30-50 as with it turned on. I've check this with other games, it does the similar thing. I've monitored the GPU usage whilst in game. The GPU clock speed stays as it should. Also have disabled the laptop so the monitor only shows the desktop with the nvidia GPU. Also i have selected high performance in the battery option, The ac adaptor is always in. Even on the lowest detail, lowest resolution, it still drops.
I am lost and really need someones help on why this is happening all of a sudden. I Will really appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Phillip
