So I have an Alienware 18 laptop and have had it for about a year now. About a week ago when I turned it on there was a black screen. I called support and did a power drain as they instructed but it didn't do anything. The way that I eventually got it to turn on was to pull the Battery plug on startup which put the computer into recovery. Now that won't work, and I can't open the BIOS or get Advanced Start Options up. As I know there a lot of signs that computers can make when starting up I'll list what my computer does when starting up.
1: I press the power button, and immediately a black screen comes up. There is no beep and the keyboard and and all lights have the same colors and are working.
2: The fans are working normally, and there are no issues with them that I can see. However the little signal light on the PC blinks twice very quickly.
3: The screen remains black but if I hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete then it takes it to an unpowered shade of black whereas the previous one was a powered black screen.
4: In order to start it up I either have to luck out and get the bios on startup after pulling the battery or have the thing go into recovery mode.
ANY, and I mean ANY help is appreciated as I really like this computer and would hate to have to see it binned. I called Alienware support and they said it would be a 599$ charge to get the computer repaired and for that price I might as well build a new one.
