Dell XPS L502x Nvidia 525m Graphics Card

My Nvidia driver has been funky for the past few months. For a while the video driver would just give me an error code 43 when I go look at it in "device manager." I i tried updating the intel and nvidia drivers from the dell site, windows update, reinstalling BIOS and also tried drivers from the nvidia site but none of them worked. I also tried removing both drivers and then redownloading them. None of this worked and I eventually gave up. Recently, I wanted to try playing a game, which I would need the nvidia driver for so I didn't lag. I went into the game and it was really laggy and sometimes the computer would get a blue screen and reset, saying something about the video card. I'm assuming when I am able to play, it is just using the intel graphics card, and when I get the blue screen is when its trying to switch to the nvidia card. I went back to "device manager" and the code 43 is gone and says the nvidia driver is working fine... I was also looking online and people mention Optimus? My laptop does not have that and I am not sure if I am suppose to? Anyone have any idea what to do? Someone said maybe trying doing a factory reset on my laptop. Also, is there a way to check what graphics card is running at any given time? Thanks
