this win 8.1 laptop has 2 video drivers (?) ;
amd radeon graphics - i dont know what this does.
intel hd - this appears to be the current graphics driver
max laptop screen resolution: 1366x766. All good so far.
I cannot find documentation to say if the laptop/driver can support greater resolution on an external screen. Can it? I need to display greater res on external screen (1920x1080x50hz - HD)
There is no video settings in bios to allocate more ram to video. Is there a special keystroke to access advanced bios?
select intel graphics properties;
right click desktop brings access to intel graphics properties;
the intel hd graphics control panel appears useless.it seems to only allow identical resolution on the external screen (a screen which is capable of running at far higher res than the laptop)
next, select intel graphics options then custom resolutions;
this results in nasty message saying that altering resolutions will damage pc. however i make the custom resolution of 1920x1080x50. This appears to work and my external screen is displayed at greater res.
Does this mean my laptop is going to die / melt?
