Upgrade gone bad

Hello,

I recently went to convert my Dell XPS L702X laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1.  I did a clean install as I would normally do, less issues that way.  Though I have run into a great big issue right now.  I went to install the NVidia drivers and was dumped out of that install with an error that the Intel drivers needed to be installed.  So I grabbed the drivers disc and put it in the computer, and installed the Intel HD driver.  Unfortunately this has led to the big issue.  In the middle of the install the screen flashed a few times then kicked me to the login screen.  I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and entered the username and password, the screen flashes at me then kicks me out the login screen again.  I restarted the computer from a cold boot, and tried again, no luck same issue.  I then tried safe mode, which I was able to install the drivers, but when I go back to the normal login it flashes and kicks me out again.  Anyone have any thoughts on how to fix this?
