Since upgrading my XPS-12 to Windows 8.1 I've been having some trouble running older games that are lower than the native 1080p resolution.
In Windows 8.0 there used to be an option where games would fill the screen but maintain the aspect ratio. If the game had an aspect ratio of 4/3 it would have black bars on each side, but the game would look fine.
In the latest Intel Graphics Control Panel, there is only one option under Panel Fit: Maintain Display Scaling. Unfortunately this setting will stretch the game horizontally to fill the screen, and it ends up with a distorted stretched image. Most of my older games from GoG.com are now unplayable on this machine.
I have tried running with the latest drivers from Dell and Intel and can't get the old behavior back.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
