1525 screen works on opening Windows screen, then goes black at the desktop view

Dell Inspiron 1525

Just started acting up this morning.  Screen works fine as Windows starts up until the desktop view comes on.  It shows it for a couple seconds then goes black.

Works OK on an external monitor (HDMI cable to the TV).

My wife says that the screen has been acting funny lately when she first turned on the computer.... sort of an orange-pink hue that would eventually fade out.

Any ideas?
