M90 with FX1500M videocard

Hi,

I have an old M90 that I use to program PLC's with in a dedicated workspace with a full HD external monitor. The M90 is a very firm laptop so I can take him with me in the field without worrying to much about an occasional bump or scratch. After I installed Win7 on it it worked just fine for months (even though Win7 was not supported for the M90 by DELL). At some moment problems started with the videocard (green stripes and a lot of BSOD until goïng to safe mode and turning of the FX1500M. In the beginning I thought it was a driver problem. Dell has no WIN7 drivers for the FX1500M and neither had Nvidia. The laptop stayed working with the onboard graffic chipset but with max resolution 1024 x 768 which is awful. Now I reinstalled the original Win XP and the FX 1500M is still bad. So, probably it is a hardware problem. I 'm looking for a replacement MXM type III videocard, not another FX1500M as this card is no longer supported.

As an alternative I have a couple of old D/Docks. I can put a PCI videocard in one of them and use it in the control room while accepting the 1024 x 768 in the field. Have someone done anything like this? Was it successful? Which videocards are OK for the D/Dock?

Hope someone can advice so I don't have to retire my good old M90.

Kind regards

Dagwin
