Hi,
I have a dell Inspiron N5110 since 2 years now, and never had any problem with HDMI connected TVs or monitors.
Recently, I purchased a Dell UltraSharp U2414H monitor and tried connecting it via HDMI without any success.
I am sure that the monitor works, since it works with my xbox. And the HDMI on the laptop still works too, since it still works on my Sony LCD TV.
I searched a lot on the internet for a solution, but nothing worked.
The laptop has 2 graphics devices: Intel HD Graphics 3000 and nVIDIA GeForce GT 525M. Apparently it uses the nVIDIA Optimus technology. Anyway, when I disable the Intel card, the laptop's screen loses display, and when I disable the nVIDIA card, the HDMI-connected TV loses display. So, it seems that the nVIDIA is responsible for the HDMI feed.
I went to the Dell support website, and using my service tag, got the newest drivers for both devices, uninstalled and reinstalled them, but still nothing.
BTW, I am using MS Windows7 64-bit, and when I go to "Control panel > Dispaly > Screen Resolution" while having the U2414H montior connected, I get only one screen detected (the default laptop's screen) and nothing else. And on the monitor side, I get these messages right when I connect the HDMI cable:
FYI: when the TV is connected and I check the nVIDIA display settings, I get 1920x1080 60Hz, which, according to the monitor's manual, is the right configuration for display. Even when I try changing the config, nothing happens.
PS: I tried with 2 different HDMI cables, from different brands and different characteristics.
Update: This is the 64-bit dxdiag trace when the HDMI is working with my Sony TV: http://pastebin.com/T9mEzAuE
I hope that somebody could help me with that, the screen seems really nice and I really want it to work with the laptop.
Than you in advance.
