I am thoroughly worn out by this issue, and every single Dell support link is circular or incestuous and is making me want to throw this thing thru a wall.
My new Inspiron15 running Win7 64-bit has a webcam. It is enabled in my Device Mgr. I have no software to operate it -- do ya get that?? NO software. There is no entry in my Programs on Start menu for software. There's no folder in my Program Files x86 directory for software. There's no entry in my Control Panel to Install or Remove it. This stupid Dell Support program seems to be telling me I have to download it. I registered with Dell, against my will, to get it and fired up IE to do this:
- Navigate to the Dell Support Website
- Click My Account in the upper right corner and sign in with your Dell My Account in the popup box provided.
- Under the My Software section on the right side of the page, click "Download Factory Installed Software (My Dell Downloads)".
- Click the checkbox that agrees to the Terms and Conditions of the My Dell Downloads website and click Register System at the bottom of the page
- At the My Download Locker page, click the registered system that corresponds with the computer you are downloading Webcam Central to.
- Under the Title section, look for Dell Webcam Central. There may be more than one listing for this software title.
I CAN'T look under the *Title* section for latest Webcam s/w since all I get is a single entry for Adobe Reader showing it can be downloaded 3X. The identifier at the top of the page is showing my correct system model 3521 and I'm logged in since my only option is to Logout.
WTF????? Where do I get software and what else am I missing?? I literally have next to nothing from Dell native to this machine right out of the box -- I had only a Dell Data Safe software and the Support app when I started and everything else I now have I've had to install just trying to get to the camera software (digital delivery, system detect, etc.).
WHY DOESN'T THIS EXIST ON MY SYSTEM AND HOW DO I RESOLVE IT????????
