I own a fairly new Dell inspiron 7520, AMD Radeon HD 7730M, Intenl HD Graphics 4000. I just purchased a 27'' monitor as i wanted to work on 2560x1440 resolution. My monitor only has DP, HDMI and DVI in-ports and my laptop only has VGA and HDMI ports. I tried the HDMI, but it looks like its cant handle 2560x1440, but 1900x1080. This is really frustrating for me as i bought the monitor to use 2560x1440. I tried before on other monitors using the VGA and i managed to run 2560x1440. What is the solution here?
- Can i get a VGA to DVI/DP cabel? or adapter?
- Is there some other device that i can connect to?
- Do i need to take my laptop and get upgraded? If so, where can i do this in China? So many fake places here and i want to take it to official Dell store- but cannot find any in Shanghai.
Thanks a million - this is very frustrating. Cant believe that my fairly new dell laptop cannot handle 2560x1440. My flatmates 4 year old macbook air even can do this. Other than this problem, i love my dell laptop.
