Inspiron N5150 AMD driver problems.

I hope there's some easy way to fix this, I've been trying for a while now, without any success.

I have an Inspiron 15, W7 64 bit, with the switchable AMD graphics card. The thing has been perfect, zero issues in the two years I've had it, but now it's causing me a lot of grief. A couple of weeks ago, I began getting some random freezing, just for a second or two, so I updated the drivers from the AMD website. At first, they didn't install. I got no errors, but it was obvious there was something wrong, as the frame rate went to the point no games were playable and even small, low rez youtube videos were stuttering. After I removed and reinstalled them, it worked fine, except I still had the random stuttering (only like a couple of times an hour), so when the latest drivers were announced, I downloaded them and the driver install failed, saying "You must be member of the administrators group". I am the admin and I am the sole user. I tried several things, rolling back the driver, which failed, creating a new user account, which didn't help, deleting the AMD folder, etc. System Restore also failed, on all three dates I chose to try to take it back to. I eventually decided to restore it to "out of the box", but apparently, I don't have the image on my HD, so that didn't work either. Any ideas what's going on here? I suppose I will have to call Dell and get a disc with the drive image on it, so I can start over, but I would rather fix this issue without doing all that. Thanks in advance for your help!
