Hi,
I bought a new Inspiron 11 laptop (Haswell Pentium 3556u processor). I have had the following issue on it from day 1: the display brightness changes depending on the colors that are being displayed.
A simple test: I open a web page that is mostly black (http://buddhastix.co.nz/) and maximize the web browser. Then I open a notepad, just a blank note, and maximize it, too. When I switch between these two windows, screen brightness changes.
Or when I switch between two browser tabs, one with a dark web site, one with a bright web site.
Or when I switch between two different e-mails in Outlook, one on dark background, one on normal white. This drives me crazy. I want to disable this behavior.
I have done the following so far:
- disabled adaptive screen brightness;
- disabled Intel Power Saving Technology;
- spent I don't know how many hours reading various forum posts and trying solutions, that basically lead to the two above;
- disabled Dell Intelligent Display in battery settings, no difference there;
- spent 6 hours chatting to 2 Dell support engineers and 1 supervisor, who uninstalled and re-installed every driver on my machine and ran all Click-To-Fix fixes they could think of, all to no avail.
What else can I try to disable this unnecessary and extremely annoying behavior? In one of the posts around here I noticed a different solution that involves turning off Secure Boot in BIOS.

Do you think it is a solution that makes sense?
