I have a Latitude 6430u with awful video performance. Simple youtube videos are constantly choppy, refreshing the frame only a couple of timesa second. Meanwhile my daughter's next to me watching the same video flawlessly on her iPhone, in the same resolution.
My 6430u has a Core i7 processor and 16gb RAM (Win7 64-bit), so I don't imagine that's the limitation. I have the higher-resolution 1600x900 screen, but only the built-in Intel HD Graphics 4000, which seems to be the only option. http://www.dell.com/us/dfb/p/latitude-6430u-ultrabook/pd?~ck=anav#TechSpec.
Does anyone know if there's a way to upgrade the video? Though I never needed it, my previous Latitudes had the option to upgrade to Nvidia graphics. Or any other work-around?
Or if anyone has any suggestions on what could be causing such atrocious performance on simple videos, I'd be very grateful.
I'm posting here, because Dell ProSupport has been AWFUL for this computer. It used to be paying for ProSupport got you people with great experience and detailed knowledge of the particular product. But for this so-called Ultrabook, the three times I've called on other issues, I've gotten bozos reading from a script or looking things up on the web - something I'd already done myself.
Thanks,
Ed
