Inspiron N5010 display issues

My screen on my laptop all of a sudden will freeze and starts to gray out from the lower left corner until the whole display is gray.  When it first started, I could apply a little squeeze on the sides of the display or actually touch the display and it would return to normal for a several hours (it is not a touchscreen).  Now it reverts back to being frozen and grayed out unless I squeeze the lower left corner while I'm using it.  This makes it extremely hard to write papers for school when I only have one hand on the keyboard.   I did perform all the tests when you first boot up the system and everything passed.  When attached to an external monitor at work, it displays find on the monitor even when the laptop screen appears frozen and grayed out.  Any ideas?   I'm about ready to become a Mac owner if this keeps up.
