My Last Post was Locked before I had the chance to explain the card and what I found out.. Not sure why, I guess they seen it as a complaint...When its a fact. Its 100% a major Problem!!!
After 4 days of trying my hardest to use this switchable Graphics with my Inspiron 15R SE 7520 , with nobody to come to my rescue. I figured it out, or the just of it. Feel free to browse my complaint...Its locked and you can not respond...But its all truth.....
These switchable graphics on this laptop are very Iffy...There is no way around it. While it is advertised as a dedicated video card...its clearly not. "It Can be if Dell would write a Bios to help us Owners out"..They would save allot of trouble.>Bet it would be a simple rewrite.

But I do know that some programs, in Windows 8 or 8.1, you can click compatibility and switch it to an earlier version..so it runs the program in windows 7, but playing in windows 8>>...But I got frustrated..and already downgraded my system to windows 7....I could not test this theory..So maybe changing the compatibility to windows 7, in windows 8--Might be a quick fix????
You have no List on the net to compare Compatibility..Please drop me a line, even if it is a one liner....Let me know what you have found compatible and what you have found not to be..

What was cut out for some dumb reason..
These cards do not work as a dedicated card or graphics. They run by program. There is no way to configure it to run all the time. Half of the program you use will not be compatible.
Some will run in windows 7 and not in 8. Windows 8.1 still has allot of issues. I bet you would get around 60% more compatibility in windows 7.
So even if the program allows you to tick high performance. That don't mean it will work. Internet explorer allows you to tick high performance in Windows 7. But it will not run the card. It is locked In windows 8.1. I struggled with this forever. Even though I was allowed to tick High Performance. The card was not running. I later found out. It just not compatible.
If the bios could config the card to only run..or if there was an option to make the card dedicated in Bios, all programs would run on the card.
Because there are 2 cards running at the same-time. It is all based on Programming. Even if you could configure the amd card to run in AMD Control panel all the time. You would still run into a program that is not compatible. So you have to make sure that game or program will run in switchable graphics. I have found that there are programs that will use the card in windows 7 and not in windows 8.1.
I am hoping to hear from other users, that have found what program works and what will not. I will add as I figure it out.
We can all hope that dell will come out with a bios that will allow us to configure it to run all the time. I seen they did it a while back ago on a dell vostro..
