I recently purchased an inspiron 17r with an AMD Radeon(TM) HD 8870M 2GB GDDR5. After the first start, I wanted to check what the performance of this card was so I ran 3dMark. Quality was very bad and I got 6 FPS so my conclusion was that the onboard intel card was selected and not the AMD. After this, my ADM drivers crashed (and somehow installed themselves again). Conclusionw as that I tried to reinstall the catalyst software and the drivers (from the Dell site)...this made my screen go balck where I had to restart in safe mode to delete all drivers (and then it worked again).
After some more trial and error I got the catalyst software installed (finally), but my amd kept on crashing (seeimage). I can also not install the Video_Driver_PWTRP_WN_12.100.14.7000_A00 from the dell site since I then get the following error message, see File.
And finally I installed SpeedFan (freeware tool to check CPU temperature a.o.) and when I start this, I get the blue screen of death with the following error message:
"driver irql not less or equal iastora.sys"
This seemed to have something to do with the Intel driver? So I also re-installed that one, but to no effect :-(
Can anyone help me on this problem?
