This started out when I was trying to use the nvidia card with Solaris 11.1. It throws a thermal shutdown in about ten minutes from a cold or warm boot.
So I rebooted back to Windows 7 and found a CPU temperature monitoring program and a GPU temperature monitoring program.
The CPU temperature never changes but if I do something that requires 3D graphics then the temperature starts to head north and never goes back down. In a couple of minutes it will get to the point to where you can either close the browser showing a 3D rendered object or the machine will turn itself off.
What' the best way to handle this. I've seen everything from updating the BIOS, I'm at the latest version of 21, or using various pastes or shims to replacing the fan unit with a dual channel instead of single channel. Shouldn't any replacement be done under warranty?
Thanks in advance,
alan
