System details: Dell Inspiron 15R (non-touch) 5521, less than 3 months old; Windows 8, 64-bit; intelcore i3-3227u 1.90 Ghz, 6 GB ram, 450 GB hd; software added to install: Bitdefender Internet Security 2013, Office 2013, Chrome (28.0.1500.72 m), Trillian, ICQ, PDF-Viewer, IE 10, Brother printer utilities.
I've had a problem with a recurring blue screen within the last few weeks, saying something along the lines of "Intel graphics accelerator display drivers for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and has recovered," which freezes the laptop, requiring a hard reboot. It seems to happen fairly regularly now, often when I'm midway through working on a Word document with a bunch of Chrome tabs open and Bitdefender, Brother utilities and Trillian running in the background.
I ran Dell's online PC Diagnostics (by PC-Doctor) here at this site and passed all tests except the one for the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 card. I got a "critical hardware maintenance" warning and was advised that I "may be experiencing an issue with [the] video card."
Any suggestions as to my next step? This seems to happen regularly, as in once a day, usually when I'm right up against a deadline, which isn't doing wonders for my blood pressure.
Thanks for any input!
