So, I've been trying to download the latest and more streamlined video drivers for my Studio 1558 with the ATI Radeon HD 5470 from the ATI site and it seems that the actual driver cannot install. I thought I'd give it a try, even though I figured they wouldn't work since they weren't Dell's drivers. But it looks like Dell's last release of video drivers for the Studio 1558 with my GC is from the middle of 2010, which basically means Dell pretty much stopped supporting the 1558 right after release.
Is there anyone out there that knows how to rig a way to install the latest video drivers from the ATI site which offer a lot of newer fixes and streamline functionlity than the old versions on Dell's driver support page? It's just so ridiculous to have dropped this much money on a laptop, with so many capabilities only to be completely crippled by the manufacturers inability to support their own devices with driver updates.
