So I determined that after 4.5 years, my primary 260m video card (Left) died at work during the massive heat wave that hit the west coast. (Internal building temperatures hit 95 and laptop obviously couldn't stay cool after all the years of use)
So i can use the laptop on integrated graphics, but the remaining 260m cannot be seen in Windows or Bios, I'm presuming because you have to have a "primary" card to see the secondary card?
Finding or buying a replacement 260m or dual 280m's doesn't really seem to be an option as there is no freaking supply of working cards to even choose from. I had an idea of pulling out the cards, taking the HSF from the primary, and putting it on the Secondary card, and then putting that working good card back into the Primary slot.
Does anyone have any experience with this, or know if it can be done? Or will the m17x only recognize a vid card if there are two in there due to SLI?
Or am I going about this all wrong and there are better options?
As this is a work owned laptop, I doubt I will get approval to spend another 2-300 for repairs either.
