Recently, my webcam stopped working, but it is a bit of a strange situation. Basically, every time I try to use Skype or any program that uses the webcam (Dell Webcam Central, Xsplit Broadcaster, ect.), it shows a notification that says another program is using the camera.
So far, I have:
- Disabled/Enabled in device manager
- Uninstall/reinstall drivers, both the built in windows one and the dell one
- Checked connector of the webcam, under the bezel
It is strange because the webcam shows up in device manager and shows it is working properly, but every program will show an error identical to error messages that show up when another program is using it. I have not installed anything for over a month other than updates for windows and other programs, but this problem started just a week ago. It seems like the webcam is not broken and is not disconnected because I checked the connector and it shows up as working in device manager, yet I can't seem to find out what the problem is.
As another note, I am not 100% sure, but I think it changed names in the device manager from "Integrated Webcam" to "WEBCAM". I am pretty sure the default name used to be "Integrated Webcam", but I may be mistaken. Under properties -> Device description, it shows as USB Video Device, not sure if that matters. If anyone has any ideas what the problem could be, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
