So I bought this laptop a while back, in 2009, and it's a studio xps 1340 as i mentioned in the title. the specs are (according to dxdiag)

So now my actual problem is that basically when I had windows vista x64 installed on this (the one the laptop originally came with) it would be able to go on the boost performance mode so the dedicated GPU would start operating. back then it wasn't really an issue. Anyway, now I installed this driver from the dell website, it was for windows 7 x64, it shows the nVidia symbol down on the task bar and it even gives the option to boost performance (only if i have it on the high performance power plan). So when i click boost performance there's a pop-up, as there always was before too, showing that it's switching to the dedicated GPU. Except then everything just freezes. Like I can still move the mouse but I can't really do anything. After about 10 to 20 minutes it goes away but it didn't switch to that boost performance mode. So I was wondering if anyone could help me out with that because right now it's pretty much dead weight and i really want to be able to use it since most games wont even run properly on my laptop. they're all really slow and when the graphics load is too much the game just shuts off.
Other than the graphics issue if anyone could guide me about this co-processor driver issue i'm having i'd be really grateful. (In device manager it just says "co-processor" under other devices. No more info other than that). All the other drivers I installed for windows 7 x64 are working properly, it's just these two i can't seem to get working.
