Video chipset problem

I have an Inspiron 1750 with the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset.A few weeks ago I upgraded the driver at the Intel site to version 8.15.10.2869, dtd 10/4/2012. Since that time I am having flaky problems when playing videos. My computer will lock up completely, no response to anything at random times for anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. Then it will continue with the video. This sometimes happens several times while playing a video. I have downloaded the latest Dell driver update for this chipset (R237653.exe) to attempt to get back to a working system. The driver in the Dell update is stamped with an earlier date than the one installed from the Intel website. The Dell update runs normally to completion and issues a message stating that the driver has been updated. However, the date and version number does not change. I assume what is happening is that the update sees a driver with a later date and does not replace that driver. Is there anyway I can force an update with the older driver???

Thanks,
