Hello, everyone. I have an older Dell Inspiron 1750 (Model: P04E), and I'm running into an issue regarding my screen.
My original LED screen had a very thin line running vertically across the screen. I took the laptop apart to try and see if the connector on the back of the screen was loose. I adjustedthe cable connections, and now the screen is black whenever I power it on. My first assumption was that the monitor had finally gone bad. So, I bought a new screen, and have the same issue.
When the second screen was installed, I decided to shine the flashlight on it to see if there was any picture at all. It turns out that the monitor is in fact working, but the backlight is not kicking on. I checked my original monitor, and the same thing is going on with it.
I came across a thread on the internet where someone was having a similar problem, and they were told that there is a fuse on the board that controls the backlight, and that it probably blew out. Now, I'm starting to think that may be my case since both screens are working, and the external monitor I tested with is fine as well.
I'm not good with soldering at all, and so I wouldn't trust myself to try and replace the fuse or bridge the connection (as shown in the thread I mentioned). I know it's probably going to cost a lot to have this repaired by someone. So, I was wondering if anyone had any other possible solutions? Would it be cheaper to buy a whole new board. If so, are there any compatible with mine (Dell Inc. 0F642T)?
